Novel methods of biodiversity research in streams
Project Period: 2024–2026
Investigator: dr. Karel Brabec, BIODIVERSA+
The research of stream biodiversity based on molecular and image analyses has received funding for the period 2024-2026 (DNAquaIMG project, principal investigator Dr. Karel Brabec, BIODIVERSA+). The aim is to develop the knowledge of biological indicators (diatoms and macroinvertebrates) used for the assessment of changes in aquatic ecosystems. The complex investigation will be done in pilot river basins (land cover, effects of agriculture and urbanization, hydromorphological characteristics, and impoundments). The role of climate change in stressor-indicator relationships will be evaluated.
