Border Research
Borderlands represent a specific territorial type, the regional development of which takes place not only under the influence of internal (national, state) conditions, but is largely determined by external (international, neighboring state) conditions. Usually, these are areas with a disadvantaged (peripheral) location, with negative population development, and insufficiently developed infrastructure; on the other hand, there are naturally valuable areas with potential for tourism development. The interest of the research and application spheres is changing over time, both in terms of intensity and content. In addition to the state and possibly regions, the European Union plays a key role in directing regional development. It is here that European integration manifests itself "every day", among other things, striving to increase the competitiveness of these territories, specifically through relevant programs and activities. This weakens the border effect, and on the contrary, residents, institutions, businesses, etc. contribute to the formation of a society and economy "without borders" through cross-border cooperation. Our activities - in addition to their application in teaching - are implemented through national (e.g. TAČR) and/or EU (INTERREG) programs.
