Political and cultural geography
We are a working group of teachers and students interested in political and cultural issues of the contemporary world. Our aim is to provide a relevant interpretation of the relations between society, space and institutions, and thus contribute to the understanding of the processes that are transforming the contemporary world. Our approach is characterized by an emphasis on the everyday materiality and discursive nature of social life. We understand this as a process rather than a permanent state. We engage in both theoretical and conceptual research as well as theoretically anchored empirical analysis. We study social processes linking local, national and global scales as well as the ways how the spatiality of these processes is shaped by their political, cultural, historical and economic contexts.
