Map Collection

The map collection at the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University was founded in 1921. Currently, the collection contains approximately 18,000 inventory items. A substantial part of the collection consists of documents published before 1850, referred to as old prints. The most valuable parts of the map collection are the first atlases by Abraham Ortelius from the second half of the sixteenth century.

All digitized maps, where the copyright status allows, are gradually made available online in full resolution on the website of the Department of Geography.
